History of our Renault Sport Spider

Well as you can see from the photos the team have acquired a very rare and exotic car for there ongoing Tarmac Rally events. This car has been purchased from England and is now on its way to Australia. The Renault Sport Spider was radical in construction. The chassis was made of lightweight aluminium, which was also extremely rigid. The suspension was race-inspired, rose (spherical-jointed double wishbones), and the huge vented disc brakes came from the AGIO super car.
For its power, Renault opted to fit the sizzling 245bhp two-litre engine of the Clio Williams. That was sufficient to take it to 62mph (100 kph) from rest in just 4.9 seconds.

Overall the Sport Spider is incredibly quick, both in a straight line and through corners. At 890kg, it may not have been as light as a Lotus Elise, but it was certainly no heavy weight. It corners with almost no roll.

The umbrella organisation that created this unique car, Renault Sport, also ran a racing series exclusively for the Sport Spider. Our car is one of these vehicles having recently undergone an almost complete rebuild preparing it for this event the car will be again completely stripped and painted in the teams colours and prepared for Targa Tasmania, this car will be the only one of its kind in Australia and one of only 30 world wide.
The team believe this car will be extremely popular due to its rarity and unique looks as well as having an extremely strong potential in terms of performance in the event.
