Day 2 progress

Day Two started at the Silverdome in Launceston with our start order still inline with the Spider's which surprised us all. After some last minute checks by the Support Crew we were all underway and off to the well renowned car breaker, 'The Sidling'.

Adam and Jarrod nervously approached the start line not knowing what lay ahead. Typically Targa teams would have Day 1 to sort their car, their team work and their comfortably with the event. Not the case with Team RedbackRacing. They were driving into the most notorious stage with a different car that was not adapted to Tarmac Rally. They were certainly about to confirm that later.

The Mazda performed well all day without skipping a beat and the team getting into a proper Targa rhythm on some of the longer stages. One stage certainly became memorable it in how quickly it was forgotten afterwards, the car decided that it was no longer a precision open-top sports car, but instead it would act like a wild rodeo bronco. Jumping at the rear and kicking from side to side, Adam did a sterling job to keep it on the Tarmac and the stage was completed without incident.

The quickest lunch break ever was followed buy another 200km of touring down the east cost with a selection of competitive stages in-between. The culmination of the day was Glenorchy night stage that was hyped up by the organisers for spectators to come and get up close and personal with the Targa Tasmania event. This stage was well received by the crowd as spectators were packed up to 40 deep.

The Mazda was then parked at the Wrestpoint Casnio for the evening and the team set about making preparations for Day Three.
