New Renault Spider on the way

After last years test run the team put there heads together to see what modifications could be done to the car to increase reliability. It was apparent that the performance was already with the car but reliably is the hardest aspect to achieve. So the team have decided to make the following changes:
• Clutch: A new heavy duty Renault Sport Clutch has been fitted to the car. This new clutch will allow a certain amount of "slip" without overheating. Thus allowing gentle starts off the line to reduce stress on the gearbox and drive train
• Under body: A couple of extrusions exist on the under body of the car. These are fine for circuit racing but in Tarmac rallying where you end up bottoming out the car often this could be disastrous. So a full aluminium guard system has been made up to allow the car to bottom out without damage. (See photos)
• Spares: The team will have 2 spare clutches, Spare Radiator, ball joints and driveshaft. You can't plan for every eventuality but you can try.
• Handbrake: Last years car did not have a handbrake. After all how many circuit cars have handbrakes. This was not only an inconvenience but a large amount of strain on the clutch which put the team out of the 2007 event. The team have fitted a hydraulic unit to the car.
• Weight: We are going to be attempting to reduce the weight of the car. The team have some small changes that will hopefully reduce the overall weight of the car by 15kg. It might not sound like much but everything helps!!. This will include. Perspex headlight covers replacing glass, Carbon Fibre Engine Cover, Lightweight Fibreglass nosecone and rear bumper.
