The team got an early start to the day ready and rearing to get into the Targa swing of things. What better way of doing this than mixing it up with a broad selection of Targa competitors at Simmons Plains motor raceway.
The turn-out of vehicles was simply spectacular. With cars spanning almost 50 years of age all mixing it up all for the enjoyment of joyrides for the lucky few who were invited.
Competitors in cars as rare and exotic as the million dollar plus Pagani Zonda which is the only one in the country through to things as diverse as a 1967 Bizzarrini GT and of course our little Spider.
The Targa 2008 Spider of course was not alone, we had organised earlier in the morning to pick up and transport last years Targa entry to the circuit to ensure a magnificent sight to behold. Adam drove the 2008 Spider whilst Zane AL-Said drove the 2007 vehicle.
The day was brilliantly organised by a number of key people including Karen Tol and Octagon. After mandatory safety briefing and the like, a few short speeches were given by racing legend Jim Richards expressing how much Targa means to him and that if he had to choose only one motorsport event to do per year, including the Bathurst 1000, he'd choose Targa any day.
Adam took over after Jim and shared with the crowd how he was work hard as an ambassador for Targa in the UK with people as well connected and as famous as Australian F1 driver Mark Webber.
There were a few lucky people who won lucky door prizes that money cannot simply buy. A ride on hot-laps with Jim Richards in his GT2 Porsche, one of only two in Australia and hot-laps in the Zonda.
Guest were ushered into cars as they all got taken out for a quick lap or two around the track in real race cars. All in all there were approximately 30 cars and 140 guests.
An enjoyable time was experienced by all involved and the day was a complete success with many smiles across all that were there.
The team now eagerly await Day Zero and the Temco prologue.
